We would like to share important industry updates regarding the use of glycerol (E422) in slush ice drinks. Recent research and new industry guidance have raised concerns about the effects of glycerol on young children, particularly when consumed in large quantities over a short period.

Key Findings & Recommendations:

???? Glycerol is commonly added to slush drinks to prevent the liquid from freezing solid, but excessive intake can cause adverse effects in young children.
???? The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued new voluntary guidelines advising retailers:

• Not to sell slush drinks to children under 4 years old.
